Juniors

Musselburgh Old Course prides itself as a junior friendly club and recognises the need for youngsters to be given the opportunity to learn to play golf in a safe and friendly environment.

Junior Convenor Ruth Carroll, looks after the junior side of things. Her enthusiastic and positive approach ensures all juniors, regardless of ability or age, can benefit from their membership. If any of our youngsters have any concerns Ruth is always available to help.

To integrate the juniors into the Club we have set aside Monday evenings 6-8pm in the clubhouse where fun and games is the order of the day. Summer months quite often see extra competitions on the golf course. Most importantly it is an ideal opportunity to mix and get to know each other better. Parents can be assured their children are properly supervised at all times and looked after by individuals who have been fully vetted by Disclosure Scotland.

Each month there is a junior medal split into categories of golfing ability. The better players compete with each other while those beginning the game are gently introduced with their own ‘rookie’ competitions played form their own teeing areas. Detailed below are the different categories:

Category one

Players, who are junior members with a national recognised Handicap.

Category two

Players that play from ladies tees with a Junior Club handicap to allow them to play in the junior competitions.
