Rookies

Specially selected tee positions have been allocated for a shorter course, which allows ‘rookies’ to progress at their own pace and play the course more suited to their ability.

All rookies can obtain a playing handicap once their ability allows it. The opportunity to compete in special monthly rookie medals is the reward for their progress. The benefits of playing in the medals introduce our younger members to the rules and etiquette of golf – things that will last with them as long as they play the game.

During summer months we have a Friday evening stableford where all category of golfer are allowed to compete. These are in essence fun occasions and designed to involve all members. It is quite alarming how many of these are won by the junior members!

Golf is a marvellous opportunity for children to learn a sport that will help keep them fit, learn respect for each other and give them a sense of pride that can last for the rest of their lives.
